Mission: The Norcross PDC is a unique group of interested and involved citizens who meet each Wednesday morning at our local coffee house (45 South Cafe in downtown Norcross). It is here that we discuss topics affecting the Norcross area, anything from local and county politics to events on the Norcross calendar. These aren't "cracker barrel" session; they are attended by councilmen, business owners, the mayor, leaders of many city and county groups (NBA, DDA, NAA, CID and the YMCA) to name a few. Some of our weekly attendees live in areas outside the city limits in places like Peachtree Corners, Duluth and Suwanee. We take notice of reports about what each group is doing, and this gives us a chance to ask questions and have some impact. We also have an opportunity to undertake projects that the city may not address, such as our local schools.
More than just talking, the PDC:
* Has had four city councilmen in the last four years
* Publishes the Norcross Times six times a year
* Provides detailed info on candidates in city elections
* Holds numerous and informative Town Hall meetings during the calendar
* Members campaigned for liquor-by-the-drink, acquisition of the community center property, and moving to a City Manager form of government.
* Takes a lead in becoming involved in local school programs(reading mentors, Jr. Achievement, support of principals)
The PDC has no dues and attendance is strictly optional, but on any given Wednesday we have 20-25 folks anxious to listen, learn and discuss pertinent information with others in the group. Meetings generally last an hour and we have guest speakers on a regular basis. Some of our recent guest speakers include: Jim Modak, CFO/Suniva; Chief Dallas Stidd, Norcross Police Chief; and Mary Kay Murphy, School Board representative for the Norcross schools cluster.
If you are interested in attending one of our upcoming PDC meetings, we'd love to have you stop by and see what we're all about. And because we are in Norcross, It's a Place to Imagine!

Additional Information: The PDC IS NOT an official City of Norcross Committee. Because they are attended by elected officials in Norcross, we have chosen to post their meetings and minutes for all to see in our continued efforts for transparency in government.
The PDC is a proud sponsor of www.norcrosstimes.com.
