Uniform Patrol Division

The Uniform Patrol Division is commanded by Captain Doug Morphis who answers directly to the Chief of Police and is responsible for the day to day management and supervision of:

  • Four Patrol Shifts

  • Traffic Unit
  • Court Security
  • Special Event Security
  • Filming

The Uniform Patrol Division is the “backbone” and most visible division of the Norcross Police Department. The primary responsibility of this division is to provide 24-hour protection and service to the citizens of and visitors to the City of Norcross.

Patrol enforces state laws and city ordinances within the city limits of Norcross, Georgia and answers calls for service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The Uniform Patrol Division is divided up into four shifts; “A”, “B”, “C”, and “D”. Two shifts will be on duty, while the other two will be off. Each shift is supervised by a Lieutenant. The rest of the shift is comprised of a Sergeant, and four officers.

Plans are underway to develop and implement a "shift specialization" program to place specific designated and trained personnel on each patrol shift. This would include, but not be limited to a Crime Scene Technician, Bilingual Officer, Accident Investigator, Crisis Intervention Officer, and Tactical Officer.

The focus of the Uniform Patrol Division is both proactive and reactive. When a call is placed to the Norcross Police Department, the Uniform Patrol Division is the first to respond. Through both directed and daily patrols the Uniform Patrol Division can be proactive in searching out both criminal activity and traffic law violations. The Uniform Patrol Division also directs crisis intervention with families and referral to non-law enforcement agencies for additional aid when needed.
