Park Maintenance Coordinator
POSITION TITLE: PARKS MAINTENANCE COORDINATOR

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for day to day maintenance of City parks and assigned facilities

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the city.

• While performing any procedure, all personnel must observe applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines.

• Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.

• Adhere to appropriate city operating procedures, benefit rules, employment, and safety policies/practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains and performs repairs at City's parks, greenways, and natural areas.

• Maintains and performs repairs at areas within public spaces and landscaping around City facilities and the downtown district.

• Inspects parks, facilities and equipment on daily, weekly and monthly basis.

• Knowledge and ability to operate and repair equipment such as mowers, tractors, gator, weed eaters and a variety of hand and power tools.

• Able to perform field and grounds maintenance to recreational athletic facilities.

• Knowledge and ability to perform seasonal maintenance (winterizing) of plumbing along with routine cleaning and maintenance of restrooms and concession buildings.

• Knowledge and ability to operate, maintain, and repair sports field turf/grass and irrigation system.

• Socially capable of communicating with the general public in a helpful, courteous and professional manner.

• As assigned, oversee and supervise part-time, seasonal recreation and community service workers.

• Other duties deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the Recreation/Parks Division.

JOB SCOPE

Job has recurring work situations involving high degrees of discretion. The need for accuracy and effective utilization of accepted programs and routines is high. Errors in judgment will waste resources and adversely impact performance. Incumbent operates independently but work is verified. Content of work priorities are determined by supervision.

The purpose of this position is to maintain streets, drainage ditches, and lawns. Successful performance helps ensure safe and attractive streets and a positive public image for the city.

Education and Experience

• High School diploma or GED and one to three years’ experience. Equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Certified Pool/Spa Operator required (may be obtained after employment).

• Possession of a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of city and departmental policies and procedures.

• Knowledge of safety rules and regulations.

• Skill in performing general maintenance duties.

• Skill in performing general equipment maintenance duties.

• Skill in operating such vehicles and equipment as a dump truck, push and riding mower, weed-eater, chainsaw, and various hand tools.
