Parks and Recreation Program Coordinator
POSITION TITLE: PROGRAM COORDINATOR

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY: Provides support for the Parks, Recreation and Public Works
COST CENTER #: Public Works and Utilities
SUPERVISED BY:  Superintendent of Parks and Recreation

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To support the vision, mission and guiding principles of the city.
• While performing any procedure, all personnel must observe applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines.
• Attend and participate in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position.
• Adhere to appropriate city operating procedures, benefit rules, employment, and safety policies/practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible in aiding in the Customer Service operations of the Department of Public Works and Utilities.
• Planning, monitoring, implementing, supervising and evaluating all office procedures, registration and customer service operations pertaining to the parks and recreation system.
• Schedules and maintains group usage of facilities, including parks, pavilions, performance venues and athletic fields.
• Continually analyze and evaluate community needs in relation to developing fair and equitable policies regarding fees and customer service issues.
• Respond to customer questions, requests, concerns and issues in person, by phone, letter or email, as appropriate.
• Assist customers and participants on the phone with registration, inquiries, and problem solving.
• Provides general and complex assistance to Parks, Recreation and Public Works and Utilities including scheduling meetings, researching information, and data collection.
• Provides assistance at Community Events throughout the year. Assists with planning, scheduling, promoting and coordinating a variety of programs, activities, and special events.
• Assists staff in their duties and assignments.
• Manages the phone activity including providing general and specific information to callers. 
• Manages walk-in traffic.
Enters Purchase Orders in accounting system.
• Provides staff assistance in managing work order system.

 ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Any other duties as assigned.

JOB SCOPE :
Job has recurring work situations involving high degrees of discretion. The need for accuracy and effective utilization of accepted programs and routines is high. Errors in judgment will waste resources and adversely impact performance. Incumbent operates independently but work is verified. Content of work priorities are determined by supervision.

COMMUNICATIONS/CUSTOMER CONTACT:
 Contacts are typically with other city employees and the general public. Contacts are typically to exchange information, provide services, and resolve problems. This position requires high customer contact in person, on the phone and via email.

Education and Experience
• Possess a valid Georgia driver’s license.
• Possess good oral and written communication skills.
• Be a self-starter.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Ability to efficiently plan, implement and follow through. • High school diploma, college degree preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Knowledge of the principles, rules, equipment, tools, and techniques of the activity or event or other specialties involved • Ability to deal efficiently with groups and maintain discipline.
• Ability to develop and maintain good sportsmanship and good relations with the participants in the community.  
• Ability to organize, lead and instruct people of various age groups in specific activities.
• Ability to deal tactfully, efficiently and equitably with people. 
• Skills in oral and written communications.
