May 3 Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Celebrates Cinco de Mayo in Norcross Classic tangoes, hot Latin vibes…great music from Argentina, Cuba and Mexico! The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is performing live (FOR FREE!) in Thrasher Park (93 Park Dr.) Bring the kids at 6:30pm for an “instrument petting zoo” from 6:30pm - 7pm (you’ve always wanted to pet an accordion, right?!) IT'S ALL FREE! No tables….bring a blanket and chairs and settle back for a fabuloso evening. Free concert 7pm - 8:30pm, Thrasher Park, 93 Park Dr.
May 3 Cinco de Mayo Downtown After the concert, stroll downtown and enjoy authentic Mexican and Cuban fare from our local Cinco de Mayo hotspots, Zapata's and Mojitos. Then check out VARGAS & HARBIN GALLERY STUDIO for opening night of an exhibit showcasing the largest gathering of Latin American artists living in the metro area. Gallery opening 7pm -10:30pm (ish).
May 4 Cinco de Mayo Continues Downtown Zapatas is hosting The Mary Raindrop Band and serving up authentic Mexican specials and libations for the party. Mojitos sizzles with their awesome house band that keeps things hot while the great food is being served.
May 5 Concours D'Elegance Porsche Car Club Show The Peachstate Porsche Club is bringing over 100 purring Porsches, rolling them onto the green at Lillian Webb Park (5 College St.) Come ogle - it's free! 10am- 4:30pm.
May 7 Whistle Stop Farmers' Market Season Opens Join over 45 vendors for the season opening - your favorite new and cherished regulars are here with fresh strawberries, seasonal veggies and a gadzillion other locally made things to eat. It's Where Getting Fresh is Fun! Every Tuesday through September, 4pm- 8pm Thrasher Park, 93 Park Dr.
May 11 Jazz in the Alley National jazz fusionist Eric Thomas hits the stage in downtown's newest hot hang outspot. Bring your chairs, a "brown bag" (no glass please) and a dinner to-go from our local eateries. Free concert, 7pm - 9pm, in Skin Alley (behind the shops and restaurants along S. Peachtree St.)
May 13 Monday at the Movies "Hope Springs" is on the big screen in the Norcross Community Center (10 College Street). Free, 1:30pm
May 18 Annual Classic Car Show Over 300 cars and motorcycles expected this year in an incredible show that is a trip down nostalgia lane! Music, raffles, tasty food and the charming downtown setting make this event great fun for all ages. 8am - 4pm, Downtown Historic Norcross.
May 24 Norcross Summer Concert Series We're kicking off the season with the great sounds of Terry Lee & The GT's! Rockin' covers and tributes that will start a whole summer of dancing under the stars! Free, 7:30pm- 9:30pm, Thrasher Park, 93 Park Dr.
May 25 Strawberry Stroll & 5K Annual Memorial Day fun for the whole family - come run or walk, then bounce around in the inflatables! Organized by RockTenn/RTS Packaging to benefit KingdomKids. Fresh locally-grown strawberries for sale and strawberry treats in the downtown shops and restaurants. 10am - 2pm, Thrasher Park, 93 Park Dr.
May 27 Memorial Day Tribute Enjoy a free performance by the jazz band from Greater Atlanta Christian School. Bring a blanket and chairs and relax on the grass - picnics welcome! Free, 1pm - 2pm,Thrasher Park, 93 Park Dr.
May 28 Monday at the Movies In tribute to Memorial Day, enjoy "Lincoln" on the big screen in the Norcross Community Center. Free, 1:30pm, 10 College St.
