The City of Norcross teamed with area churches and the Robert D. Fowler YMCA to organize a soccer invitational Saturday as part of its Norcross Together series, a local grassroots movement aimed to bridge together residents of the newly annexed part of the city with the old.

In addition to four junior and four adult teams battling head to head, locals ate from the Nacho Mama's Mexican Grill and Wholly Pops food trucks, and kids attempted to sink adults in a dunk tank.

Author Joe Kissack also gave a compelling speech to bring a sense of community for Norcross through his book, "The Fourth Fisherman." It detailed the true story about three Mexican fisherman who were rescued after being stranded in the Pacific Ocean for nine months.
