Skin Alley Update

10.22.2012

Despite a few days of heavy rain in early October, the redevelopment of Skin Alley has stayed on schedule.  To date, construction crews have buried most of the electric lines that used to droop between the old wooden poles along the alley - today, only transmission lines remain exposed, as the cost of burying the transformers underground was too costly at this stage. Asphalt and brick pavers will finish the surface of the widened alley, with plans to have the redeveloped alley fully accessible again around Thanksgiving, in plenty of time for the annual carriage rides through downtown.

Once the alley is completed, focus will shift to Jones Street and then along College, where plans are for new sidewalks, benches, lighting and new tree wells. For construction updates, visit www.norcrossga.net and look under "Community Development."
