10.30.2012
Once again this holiday season, the City of Norcross is taking part in the Georgia Municipal Assocation's annual Mayors' Christmas Motorcade.
Since 1958, cities throughtout Georgia have worked together to bring the joy of the holidays to patients living in mental hospitals across the state. Many of these patients have lived in these mental hospitals most of their lives and have little, if any, contact with outside friends or family. The Georgia Municipal Association and Governor Ernest Vandiver originally created the Mayors' Christmas Motorcade to help these hospital patients celebrate Christmas by providing each with a present. Without this organization, many patients would not receive any type of gift or recognition during the holidays.
Norcross has now begun its 2012 gift collection campaign, and we are asking for your help. Please donate new and unwrapped gifts; wrapping paper, ribbons and bows are also needed.
Please ask your family, friends and co-workers to join us in the gift of giving and sharing. All donations should be delivered to Norcross City Hall; however, if you live in Norcross, you can call for pick-up service no later than November 30 (the gifts will be delivered on December 4).
The following is a list of some of the needed items: combs/brushes, toothpaste/toothbrushes, deodorant/shampoo, hair accessories, games, caps, watches. New Clothing: women (XL-4X) men (small-4X) to include: pajamas, nightgowns, bathrobes, socks, underwear, and bedroom slippers.
THANK YOU FOR HELPING
