If the tree you are cutting has a diameter of six inches or greater, then you must complete and submit a tree removal permit application for approval. You will complete either a residential or commercial tree removal permit application, depending on whether you are on residential or commercial property. There is no fee associated with this permit.
If you are pruning limbs, you do not need a tree removal permit. However, the Tree Preservation Ordinance does not allow you to top a tree. (i.e. cutting the trunk above a tree's existing limbs)
