The National Weather Service is forecasting a strong to severe line of storms associated with a strong cold front is expected to impact north and central Georgia Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening. The line is expected to reach extreme northwest Georgia as early as noon today and then reach metro Atlanta by mid afternoon. Gwinnett County has been placed in the Enhanced Risk category (3 on a scale of 0-5). The primary impacts may include:
- Damaging wind gusts (up to 60 mph)
- Potential to bring down trees and powerlines.
- Several, isolated tornadoes
- Frequent lightning
- Locally heavy rainfall
A Wind Advisory has been issued for the county in preparation for the line of storms.
The Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as appropriate.
