Whether you are a Norcross Power customer or use another provider, please rest assured that the City of Norcross will have crews ready to respond to downed trees and power line issues. The City of Norcross has been preparing for the arrival of storm conditions later today and into Friday. That includes checking the city’s stormwater structures, preparing for downed trees and tree limbs, and preparing for potential electric outages in the areas served by Norcross Power. Crews will remain in place overnight to respond to issues. The city has already experienced outages overnight unrelated to Hurricane Helena. What Can You Do? Prepare for outages, whether you are a customer of Norcross Power – which serves most of the city – or a customer of Georgia Power, or Jackson EMC. Know your provider to be able to check for updates. Resources for storm restoration will be stretched thin due to the area covered by the storm, so please make any last preparations and know that each provider will be working to restore service. If you have not loaded the SeeClickFix app on your phone, now is the time to do so – and make sure your phone is fully charged. You can help be the eyes and ears in our community by letting us know about the location of trees that may block roads, or flooding if stormwater structures become clogged. Please remain alert about the potential for flooding and please avoid driving during the storm. Norcross Power Norcross Power meters are equipped with technology that provides real time alerts for any interruption of power. Since we are automatically notified, there is no need for customers to call and provide outage notification, or report using SeeClickFix. We have invested heavily in tree trimming over the past year as well as technology that limits the area covered by an outage, and that can automatically reset an electric circuit for minor disruptions. We will provide updates as information is available. Trash Service (Waste Management) Residential service will not be provided Friday, but trucks will recover on Saturday as long as they can safely get in and out of neighborhoods. Commercial service will be delayed, but it will run Friday late in the morning. City Offices While essential services will be on a 24-hour schedule through the storm, non-essential services will conclude at 4 PM Thursday and reopen at 10 AM Friday, subject to further changes as a result of the storm.
