Norcross Police Department Chaplain

Rev. Melvin Melton
Rev. Melvin Melton is a native of Orlando, Florida. He was born to James and Geneva Melton.

For the past seventeen years he has served as an Associate Minister of the Salem Missionary Baptist Church of Lilburn, Georgia under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Richard B. Haynes. He currently serves as a Fellowship Cell Pastor and also assists the Senior Pastor in coordinating and conducting monthly baptismal services. Rev. Melton has served in pastfor a number of years in the Nursing Home Ministry. Currently he ministers the Word of God in the Fulton County Jail Ministry on a monthly basis.

Rev. Melton graduated from Lyman High School (1979) in Longwood, Florida and Carson-Newman College (1984) in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Presently he is a student of the Mt. Moriah Biblical Institute in Tucker, Georgia, a student of the Salem School of Ministry and an instructor/student in the Salem School of the Word. Rev. Melton is employed through the Gwinnett County School System as the Facility Director at Norcross High School in Norcross, Georgia. He has also been the Chaplain for the Norcross Police Department since 2009.

His priority as our Chaplain at the Norcross Police Department is to provide support and encouragement to the police department and their families, and to be there for them in a time of need and in critical situations. He also greets the community as a spokesperson for the police department.
